ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

I was born OH SO LONG ago in a place far, far away from civilization, a place called Albuquerque, New Mexico. Not a bad place really, But like any place you are born and raised in, (at least for many, count ME in the “many”)...you get bored and when the opportunity calls, you just want to spread those wings and fly a little bit.

I guess you could count my earliest influences as being a healthy diet of Comic books and Animation. I would just sit for hours, copying the figures from my old comics.

After high school-In 1987, I was accepted on scholarship to “Rocky Mountain school of Art and Design”, Where I received an associates degree in fine art. After that It was off to California where I was accepted on scholarship to “California institute of the arts” (“Cal-arts”, as its known), where I studied for three years, the basics of traditional character animation.

From that point, Turner studios came a knocking’ at the school-looking for new talent. I was taken as an intern for one of the animated projects that they were planning in the near future. (ha fooled em’!:)

I made quick progress and was promoted to Animator on the film “CATS DON’T DANCE”. That was the first of many fun ventures in the animation world, mainly consisting of animator duties, but I’m also glad to say that I’ve done my share of development, storyboard, character design, etc. Ranging from feature films like “CATS DON’T DANCE” and “THE IRON GIANT” to television animation hits like “THE SIMPSONS” and “X-MEN: EVOLUTION”.

Running along side my work in the animation world, I’ve also worked as an illustrator for over 15 years. Working for magazines (Paizo publishing; “Dragon” magazine), to books (“The Game Animator’s Guide to Maya" and “The Game Artist’s Guide to Maya”).

In 2002, I was becoming increasingly discontent with the direction that animation was taking. A friend of mine who had worked for Disney Interactive had told me that several comic book artists and illustrators were gravitating to “GAME DEVELOPMENT”, And that I might want to look into that”...

Sooooo, I decided to cast my net out and see what happened. And in October of 2002, My wife and I and our little dove “oouie”, found ourselves on our way to Austin Texas, Where I’ve been working as well in the Video Game development arena, working on concept illustrations (as well as overseeing animation),for different developers such as “WARTHOG STUDIOS” and Warren Spector's “JUNCTION POINT STUDIOS”.

In 2004 My Wife and I became the proud parents of Caitlyn Joy! Our little beam of sunshine.

I think I’ve really found the perfect combination of art form and place to live. I don’t think I could have asked for better.
